My Journey to Crocheting and Knitting
Created By: Dolores Capp
When I was a little girl,my Grandmother and Great Aunt, who was my Grandmother's sister taught me how to crochet, my first project was to learn how to put an edge on to handkerchiefs, I went on to learn different stitches and patterns and created all sizes of table scarves. Next my Grandmother taught me to knit, I wasn't very good at it, so I left knitting behind until I married, and my Mother in-law said you should learn if you want to, so my first project was to knit a sweater, which I ended up ripping it all out because I couldn't get the hang of picking up dropped stitches, but I finally finished a sweater which I wore for years. It was very relaxing to me and kept my hands busy, which kept me away from night snacking. The finished project was always very rewarding to see what I accomplished. I am up in years now and I still have a project going of some sort, you name it and I have probably made it, hats, mittens, scarfs, tablecloths, blankets, socks, sweaters, the list goes on, although to me crocheting is a lot easier than knitting because I still have a problem with picking up dropped stitches. I made many projects both of crochet and knitting for family members as well as friends. It is very relaxing and rewarding to me and keeps me busy after all my household chores are done.
