I redesigned this top from an old pattern I found when I was a teenager.I was bored doing the doilies and thought I'd do this. With the Ecru crochet thread,I changed the plain double crochet stitch to the flower pattern. Then kept going to design the open weave sleeves with the golden ruffle and long pointed cuffs. Then for the last bit of posh I sewed in Opal buttons to the peak a boo waist and and neckline. I was coaxed to enter this top, dimentional angels, bowls and vases along with my doilies in the local fair.
I thought everyone crocheted and that I didn't have a chance to win any ribbons or money.
Well every project won in their division.
And the Victorian top Won the Grand prize for best out of all 12 catigories.
I have reciently given the top to a young woman to enjoy and cherish.
I now have been making newborn hats for babies at Fairview Hospital as my house is filled with many one of a kind doilies that I with my signature 1800 rose and leaf on each.
