Empty Nest Scarf
Created By: Julie Eggenberger
My grandmother taught me how to crochet and knit when I was young. She would always be making something, doilies, baby booties, pillows or afghans. Over the years I have done a number of different hobbies, but it seems like when I have time, I always go back to crocheting or knitting. I haven't made anything in a long time, but when a the fun fur scarves started a couple of years ago I started making some. It would usually take me a long time to finish one. I just never found the time. In the fall of 2004, we took our daughter to college. I took the knitting with, thinking I might have time in the car to start a scarf. The car ride home was terrible! I cried all the way home! Leaving your children at college is an awful feeling. I felt like I had a large whole in my heart. I picked up my knitted and started knitting. I couldn't put it down...I finished the scarf in 3 hours! Now I know why my grandmother always was knitting or crocheting. It is a great stress reliever and it takes your mind off any of your troubles.
Thank you for letting me share this story.
