I was browsing the free patterns and found the Matinee Jacket in the crochet section. At first I was a little disappointed because I prefer to knit, but then I saw that there were knitted directions as well so I went straight away to my LYS and bought the Lion Brand Homespun and made it for myself. It was really easy to make and the knitting went quickly as the directions were so easy to follow.
The only thing I decided to change were the rather plain edges and the collar. The collar wasn't really visible as it was too short. I ripped out the collar and crocheted on a lacey collar with the same yarn as well as added an edging of crochet to the jacket. I can't count the number of glowing compliments I have gotten about my jacket and have had several ladies at work ask if I would make one for them as well!! It really is the most comfortable jacket I own and I love the colorways of the Homespun yarn! I would definitely make this jacket again and I just might, but I will make it a little longer next time and adjust the shoulderline somewhat.
Incidentally, I had yarn left over from this project, so I knitted myself a small handbag and I made the button to go on it!
