Endless Opportunities
Created By: Brenda Miller
When I was a child, I went to school with girls whose mothers or aunts were always knitting or crocheting clothing and purses for them. I felt they must be thought of as special. I liked the textures, designs, and colors of the items. This is what I wanted; to be able to both knit and crochet. I wanted to be able to make and wear something special.
One day my older sister came home from school with a new skill; she had been taught how to knit. She in turn sat down and taught me. This simple unselfish act open up a door of endless opportunities for me. I began to imagine about all the things I was going to make one day for my family and myself.
Not being satisfied with just knowing how to knit, I bought a book about crochet and taught myself. It was hard at first, but I really wanted to learn. This was always a dream of mine. Now that I know how to knit and crochet, I can make all of the things I've always wanted to make. Things made by a mother or an aunt that make you feel special.
