Created By: Alta Lagoey
Four years ago I became part of the St. Luke's Knitters in Jeffersonville, IN. We meet every Tuesday from 10:00 to 2:00. Currently, we have 12 knitters in our circle. This group has been meeting for over 20 years. For the past 10 years, the main purpose of this group is to knit sweaters for Guide Post. In the next two weeks we will have reached our 800th sweater.
In addition to the sweaters we have made, we have made caps for the homeless, caps for newborn babies at the local hospital, chemo caps for cancer patients, and our most recent project was to knit helmet liners for the troups in Iraq.
Being involved with this group has made me feel that I have possibly help others who otherwise would be forgotten.
We are a volunteer group and rely on generous contributions of yarn from the community and family. I believe all of our efforts have been worthwhile and I applaud all of the women in this group.
