There's greater happiness in....
Created By: Erika Marsili
My story is short and sweet with no big fancy twists. Knitting is so theraputic when you are in a stressful situation. My father was going into surgery for what was supposed to be just 2 hours. I began working on a scarf at the beginning of the day, sharing the very small surgery waiting room with a few other people and my family. Soon, it was obvious we were going to be there for the long haul. As the day progressed, my scarf grew longer and longer. The other people in the waiting room began noticing and commenting on the scarf. Working on the scarf helped me keep my mind focused and hands busy during this ordeal. But also, it gave people something positive to talk about. I actually finished it and started another while still in the waiting room. The best part is that the next day, rather than use the scarf for myself as I had planned, I gave it to my coworker who was starting treatment for cancer. I guess the moral of the story is that when you make something, sharing it makes it mean so much more. There really is greater happiness in giving than receiving.
