Grandmom's gift.
Created By: G A Yaple
I began crocheting on the anniversary of my fathers's birthday in 1999. My mother's mother, Grandmom, continued to encourage me when we would visit with her in Baltimore, Md. Grandmom had always been a craft person thoughtout my growing up nears. When she was 101 and 1 month, the weekend of my mother's 80th birthday, Grandmom taught me how to crochet 7 doiles into one centerpiece. She only offered a few sentences, then I was on my own. Crocheting has helped me through many doctor visits with my mother, my grandmother and for myself. It has been converstaion starters with people I don't know. My mother's pride attributes the ease with which I began crocheting to Grandmom since I was intrigued all my life by Grandmom's talents. The last piece Grandmom blessed was the 51/2 hour afghan I began, while visitng her, in Nov. 14, 2006. Grandmom died January 14, 2007, however she, and my parents, will forever be with me whenever I work on a crochet project because of the pride and encouragement I recieved through them.
