Inspired by charity
Created By: L Leah
Last year I received an email about Caps to the Capital, a Save the Children campaign going on in the USA to bring awareness to and prevent infant mortality. Interested if the same campaign was going on in Canada, I eagerly contacted the Toronto office to find out that they were doing not the same thing but something similar, Caps for Newborns. Spreading the word I was able to gather a group of amazing friends and in only a few weeks we had knitted and crocheted 54 caps for the campaign. These caps would be sent to Africa.
With the campaign completed and thinking of how much fun and how easy it was to crochet these little caps, I contacted our local hospital and have arranged to provide an ongoing supply of crocheted baby caps to help babies born in Guelph.
I love to volunteer my time and to give back to my community, something instilled in me at a young age by my grandmother. Who knows, maybe I'll even organize a campaign some day, but for now I'm just happy to be contributing.
