Project Linus
Created By: Vanessa Cobb
Project Linus is a 100% volunteer organization that has Chapters
across the nation that solicits volunteers or “Blanketeers” to make
quilts, blankets and afghans to donate to children, ages 0 to 18
years. These children are terminally ill, abused, neglected, lost
their home to fire, tornado, etc., or are just in need of a hug through
a home made blanket. In addition, patriotic blankets are provided to
children of our fallen heroes across the nation. Each chapter is
managed by a coordinator approved by the headquarters office in
Bloomington, IL. In addition to soliciting volunteers the coordinators
also involved their communities in the effort of fund raising, Make a
Blanket Days, and sponsoring community activities where children assist
in making blankets for children in need.
After much thought and prayer, I applied for a chapter in my county as
a way of giving to the community while helping children in need. In
November 2005 I was approved to open the Tuttle/Grady County, OK
Chapter and I have loved every second of it. I have met incredibly
talented and loving people that I would otherwise not have met and I
have seen many blessing since joining the Project Linus Organization.
Through Project Linus I have discovered there are many, many
individuals with huge hearts with the desire to give their time and
resources to help a child in need.
The chapter has recently expanded to include a neighboring county,
changing the chapter to McClain/Grady Counties, OK. With that addition
Tasha Stefanatos has joined the team as the new chapter Coordinator.
Tasha brings smiles, energy and a passion for Project Linus and will
prove to be a great asset to the organization. The new chapter has
already added new volunteers and recipients for the blankets with
promise of creating ways to help the chapter grow for many years to
come. If you would like to learn more about Project Linus and have
internet access insert www.projectlinus.org, or if you have questions
about the McClain/Grady County, OK chapter, please contact Tasha at
