Hats
Created By: Martha Sanford
I have become disabled in the last 6 years and was looking for a way to feel useful again. A friend mentioned a lady who had started knitting and crocheting hats for Cancer patients. I contacted her and went out and bought the Chenille Lion Brand yarn because it felt so soft. Being a cancer patient and losing your hair would call for a very soft yarn so as not to scratch the sensitive skin. I have made 25 hats so far and given each one away to someone in need, though I haven't gotten one to CARTI yet. The hats were such a success, I receive requests for them all the time. Most people who have received them are elderly, or a stroke victim, or someone who has to be out in bad weather conditions. They keep the wind out and the heat in the body, even in the worst weather. They don't create friction and make your hair stand on end when you take them off. The are soft as can be and have helped so many people this past winter. I continue to crochet to help people and am grateful for the wonderful selection of yarns now available. Marti Sanford
