Knit-Purl-Pray

As a breast cancer survior (times 2!) I realized how tramatic the disease can be. You KNOW people care, that they are praying, and you are loved.
In 2000, after my husband's death from lymphoma, I moved to Delaware to be closer to my daughter.
Joining a new church, I strove to fit in. My knitting was my way into the parish, my way of meeting wonderful women who also knit. Then my ahha moment, "reach out with your talent and leave cancer patients KNOW THEY ARE LOVED, THAT WE ARE THINKING OF THEM, AND WE WANT TO COMFORT THEM".
I designed a prayer shawl, with a cross knit into the back of it, using Lion Brand Jiffy yarn. Because of it's soft, wonderful texture and its ability to stand up to repeated washing and dryings, this yard has been perfect. What began as a childhood hobby has motivated others to join me in presenting over 200 cancer patients with our Prayer Shawls.
