Remembering how to Knit after brain surgery
Created By: Tommijuana Hersey
I started knitting 12 years ago. I started knitting as a way to keep myself occupied because I suffer from severe depression. However at the time that I started knitting I did not know that I had an abnormal mass sitting on the left temporal lobe of my brain stem. In the fall of 2003 I suffered a grand mal seizure and it was determined that I had an abnormal mass sitting on my brain that had to be removed. The neurosurgeon stated that some of the side effects would be long term memory lost along with some brain damage. That was 4 years ago. I am proud to say that I only suffered some memory lost but through it all I never lost the know how and the love for knitting. Part of my physical therap included hours of knitting. Knitting was a cure for my depression as well as for my memory lost.
