Created By: Terry Tocker
My mother had three daughters and one son. She had always hoped that someday one of her children would teach school, like herself, and also to learn to share her love of crocheting. Needless to say, years went by and no one was biting. After graduating from high school, I had decided to enroll in university to pursue a degree in Education. Money was scarce during my first year of school, so I had decided to make all of my Christmas presents. I had decided that for my mother, I was going to crochet her a doiley. For someone who had never crocheted before, this was going to be a very stressful venture. I was living with my "patient" aunt who spent hours upon hours teaching me how to crochet. I'll never forget what I went through to make this pineapple design doiley. I wrapped it up and couldn't wait for my mom to open her present. She cried and cried when she finally saw it. She couldn't believe her eyes. My mother had her wish granted. She had a daughter that not only became a teacher just like her, but a daughter that could also crochet.
P.S. My mother loved the pattern so much, she has since made many doilies just like it.
