Hooked on Life

In the 1970's I was one of those flower children you read about. We hand built our house on acreage in the woods and ate our own vegetables from our garden, had chickens and our own eggs. It was a life with much reward but little money.
When I could not afford to buy expensive gifts for my children, I learned how to make granny squares. I went to the local Thrift Shop and bought up bags of yarn for very little money and created a granny square afghan for each of my three young daughters. I found patterns in second hand stores and studied them until I figured them out and then created more gifts for family and friends, shawls, hats, bikinis. That was over thirty years ago and I've had the wonderful joy of making blankets, toys and sweaters for each of my six grandchildren. I have met other crocheters online, one woman sent me a huge box of yarn and I'm still crocheting pretty things with it. Crocheting is a way to create something beautiful and useful and give a bit of yourself away in doing so. That's what life is all about, isn't it. This is our webpage and it shows our lifestyle. I have pictures of some of my projects too if interested.
