Twisted Knits
Created By: Robin Whitford

I have been knitting since I was five years old. Right through high shcool, college and university I found peace and relaxation in finding the right yarn, learning a new pattern and making things for my friends. When I became a mother I decided to stay home with my children and luxuries -such as buying lots of yarn and sitting around for hours to 'play' with it (or trying to decide what to make) was not as feasable. And after making as many baby sweaters as any child could need, I knit for friends who would buy the yarn and pick a pattern and I would knit it up for them, then people just paid me for things I had created (fuzzy hat sets or cute pumpkin hats). And finally I decided I had a little business! I never thought knitting could help me stay home with my children, and not that contributes that much financially. It does make enough for me to buy more yarn AND best of all it has helped me stay connected to other adults and gets me out of the house without the kids (I LOVE going to craft shows and talking about what I've made, and seeing other people enjoy it as much as I do is an amazing feeling!). It has also given me the confidence to design my own patterns, and be more creative with my pieces (I love to add beads to my scarves!). I have recently even been paid my a magazine for 2 of my original patterns! Well, I think I feel like knitting!
