The Lessons Grandma Taught Me
Created By: Joann Jones
Being an only child in the 60's before, DVD's and the internet, it was challenging to find some thing to keep a child occupied. My grandmother started teaching me crochet when I was 5. At first just simple chains, then potholders, afghans and when I learned to read patterns there was no end to my creativity.
Through the years I've made mittens, and scarves for the homeless, afghans for pet shelters and gifts for every sort for family and freinds. The thing I am most grateful for is that now I am able to pass on the same tradition to my seven grandchildren. Suprisingly to me the boys are sometimes faster than the girls to get the hang of it and follow through with projects to their completion. Crocheting helps with their dexterity and frees their minds to ponder more creative projects. My grandmother not only gave a gift to me but to generations to come.
