Precious moments spent making hand made gifts for my grandchildren

I am a grandmother of four. Two of our grandsons live in South Africa, and our Granddaughter lives in another State. We have not seen her since December 01, 2005, and our grandsons since three years ago. The solution to the longing and missing them was to knit and make little things for them to wear and enjoy, and also to remember us by. When I was knitting individual articles for each, I would say "I love you" with almost every stitch, and I would pray that they are well.
Linsey, Chase and Jared aren't the only ones benefitting from the sweaters I knit, and the blankies I crochet, but I am too, and also the little ones that my children would pass the outgrown knitted sweaters to. For me to knit and crochet makes boring moments pass quickly, and while I knit or crochet, I dream and visualize what my grandchildren would say and think when they receive their little hand made grandma gifts. Our youngest grandson Christian lives close by and I am able to hand him his gifts in person.
I have been surprised by and learnt through this experience that it is more Blessed and enjoyable to give than to receive, especially when you give with a loving and caring heart.
I know that the future holds many precious moments for me, when I will be knitting outfits and crocheting blankies etc. for my grandchildren.
