I Love Knitting!

Four years ago I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder when a medication change triggered my first episode. I lost the ability to concentrate for long periods of time and this meant that I could no longer read my beloved books. I started doing arts and crafts type projects to entertain myself and one day in the store I bought a copy of Klutz's knitting book. I had tried learning before from another book but this one made everything click into place for me. I found that I could concentrate on the knitting and it relaxed me and made me forget about my problems as I went into the "zone". Since then I have combed knitting books for patterns and made lots of cool gifts for relatives as well as stuff for myself. I love it when someone asks about the purse that I carry and I can say that I made it!
Knitting is now a favorite past-time even though I can now read for pleasure again. It gave me a calmness and stability that I really needed and it still does. I look forward to getting in a little knitting after work everyday. It made a huge difference in my life.
