My story begins with a garage sale. I found my...
Created By: Kathleen Jackson

My story begins with a garage sale. I found my knitting teacher at a garage sale. She was selling crocheted pot scrubbers. I thought they were kind of interesting, so I bought a few. While walking in my neighborhood after the sale, I stopped by Shirley's home and asked if she gave lessons on how to make them. She agreed to teach me and we have formed a wonderful relationship along with her great teaching abilities. I have done so many new projects with Shirley. I use to knit and crochet when my children were small, but nothing eloborate. Shirley has turned out to be a great friend and a wonderful teacher. She worked with me to read patterns both in knitting and crocheting. I just love it. My daughter was in rowing at the time and Shirley worked with me on knitting her a pair of rowing mittens. I will have you know that they took 1st place at the Wateford Fair last year. I took 7 of the pieces that Shirley helped me make and I came home with 7 ribbons on all of the pieces. The projects that I have done with Shirley are pillows, mittens, an afghan, hat, etc. (I have pictures along with the ribbons if you are interested in seeing them). The love of my knitting is very relaxing and rewarding for me. Shirley has taught me an awful lot and I am still learning more. I always can't wait for my next project. I am glad that she is in my life and she is just down the street from me.
