I Can Do It
Created By: Carol Hart
I was taught to crochet at a very young age and have always enjoyed doing it. I have made countless afghans, baby sweaters, hats, booties, etc. I have always wanted to learn to knit. My first encounter with knitting was to knit a sweater for a stuffed bear. A friend of mine, who is an excellent knitter, told me if I could knit the sweater, that I could knit anything. I finished the sweater and it didn't turn out too bad, but I neglected to start anything else and soon forgot all I was taught. I am a secretry at a high school and some of the teachers decided to start a knitting club. I thought this was my opportunity to try knitting again. One of the teachers made a felted handbag and I instantly fell in love with it. I started off making dishcloths, graduated to scarves and then the handbag. I even impressed myself. I am still not able to go as fast as thoses around me, but I am getting better and can't wait to start new projects. I have learned that despite wanting to give up numerous times, I persevered and actually can knit. It just goes to show you that never give up, you can do it if you try hard enough.
