Throws/Baby blanket (throw)
Created By: Barbara Theriault
I've been crocheting since 1977 or so. I started with motifs and worked my way to larger patterns and different kinds of yarns. I can't use mohair yarns because of allergies. I've made baby blankets on a 3 ft dowel stick with crochet hooks at each end. The pattern is the afghan stitch. I use two colors so therefore the pattern is that one side is color A and the other side is color B. They have been given as gifts for the past 2 yrs. and the individuals that they are given too are family and friends. It is very much appreciated. The reason I do this is that it is a pasttime that I enjoy. When my project is finished, it looks just as good as the one I previously finshed. Each one has a special touch, because I do the blankets in the colors that match the decor of the individual's baby's room. Each blanket is made with love. Some blankets that I had made is when I found out the indivual had just found out that she was pregnant and then to learn just before finishing it, that they miscarried. It happened twice. The blankets are kept especially for them if they succeed again. That is why I enjoy doing this craft.
