Customer Projects - Get Inspired
Would you like to share a project that you have made from our yarns or
our patterns? Hundreds of thousands of people who care
about your favorite craft will see your work. Any submissions,
particularly original ones are welcome, as long as the project was
made from Lion Brand Yarn.

A Group of Angels

For most of my life I have been doing crafts. Since I am left-handed,it was difficult for me to find people to teach me many of them, so I taught myself. I have always knitted and crocheted items for friends and family, but when the opportunity came up at my church to join a group called The Stitching Angels, I seized the chance to share my expertise with others and help needy people at the same time. We get together twice a month and share our knowledge of crafts, especially knitting and crocheting, and we choose organizations that we want to help. We make lap robes, tote bags, slippers, afghans, fleece blankets with crocheted edgings, baby items, hats, scarves, mittens, prayer shawls, etc. for the homeless, nursing home residents, missions, and homes for unwed mothers. We have fund raisers a couple times a year, but most of the items are just donated by our members. It's a great opportunity to get together and socialize while doing charitable work. It's been rewarding to me. I feel really good knowing my talents are being put to good works for others less fortunate. I've also lost weight, as you can't eat and do needlework at the same time!
We only use Lion Brand Homespun for our prayer shawls. The colors and textures are beautiful, and the shawls are coveted by everyone. It's very difficult to decide who in the parish is needful of one, so we have a committee to decide. I wish everyone could have one.
Thanks for giving me this opportunity to tell you about the Angels. I hope it inspires others to form a similar group to help the needy in their commnuity.
