Pencil knitting

When I was nine years old, I wanted a warm headband to wear to school. My mother wouldn't let me use her knitting needles but she gave me yarn. I took two pencils and sharpened them and knit the headband. She had to wash it before I could wear it. This started years and years of knitting. When our daughter was born I would sew a dress and knit a sweater to go with it. I have made jackets, coats, sweaters, socks etc. Our grandchildren love all of the items I make them. I've known for over 45 years how relaxing knitting is. I have taught a lot of people how to knit. I love to share the things that bring me so much joy.
I am glad that knitting is "in" again.
