Patriotic Afghan

This project was amazing. I joined a group in January of 2002 and we all decided to make a Patriotic Afghan. We agreed on 7 inch squares of any combination of red, white and blue. We all got organized, exchanged emails and addresses. As soon as I completed 2 squares I would mail them and that person would mail me two of their squares. For 2 months it was very exciting to receive squares from women all over the USA. I think we covered about 30 states. It was time consuming but the final reward was "priceless!". I used worsted weight yarn, as most everyone and a size F hook. My son is in the Navy and it will be his gift soon. I recommend doing a group project like this, it was quite the experience. My squares are the ones with a heart in the middle made with a bullion or roll stitch.
