The pattern I'm using to make these slipper socks is from "Crochet Basics" circa 1976. The pattern was designed by Sharon Klinsky.
One Christmas I decided to make a pair for every member of my family...I crocheted sixteen pairs of slippers! The rest, as they say, is history. I have crocheted many, many pairs of slipper socks since then for virtually any occasion.
The slippers are crocheted using two strands of yarn so it's easy to combine two colors (think sports teams) or simply two strands of your favorite color. It's fun to crochet them using variegated yarn because the colors swirl around the shoe in interesting and unpredictable combinations.
