I followed the pattern for the Tunisian crochet entrelac throw. Great pattern (easy to read and follow). Even so, I had never done entrelac and did not have a size N hook, so experimented with scrap yarn from my stash and a smaller hook size than described in the pattern. I did not like the edges (which curled), so added a couple rows of border. The end result is shown in image 3. As it turned out, my daughter loved the blanket and took it with her.
I experimented with entrelac and figured out how to start the design with a corner square (image 2). I then made the shawl/throw shown in image 1.
I figured out that the squares curl less if you work the first row on the back side of the foundation chain (in the back bumps). I think the next time I will also finish the border with a row of reverse single crochet.
