First Afghan

My daughter (moving to Alaska) found an afghan on Pinterest that she wanted to make. I told her I would teach her how to knit - after I taught myself. I was an experienced crocheter and cross stitch designer before carpal tunnel and arthritis took their toll on my hands, but have never mastered knitting.
Searches on the internet and yarn shops found no yarn as bulky as pictured. So I improvised, after teaching myself how to knit. I used two strands, one strand of Lion Thick & Quick and one strand of Lion Hometown.
