I just finished this bag a few days ago.
I changed the number of increased stiches on the straps to 45 and still cast on the 18 stitches between each strap and I used Double-Strands.I changed the size of my Needles to a 13 because I wanted it Extra Biiiggg.I LUV MY BAG.
