I took the original park slope afghan pattern and made a few modifications to it and this is how it turned out. Instead of making the diamonds along the outer edges i figured out how to make 1/2 the pattern and make triangles to fill in the smaller gaps and each piece is stitched together with a special over and under slip stitch pattern i created to make the shapes (diamond - Octagon and triangle) stand out individually and as a unit and then i finished of the entire afghan with rows of triming to compliment the colors within. As you can see it found a home on the back of my mom's couch and i has not left since then - no one is allowed to use it for any reason.
