Contrasting Cuff Slippers
Created By: Marsha Tyre
I designed these slippers to have contrasting cuffs that can be flipped up over the ankles in very cold weather, or left down as shown for stylish and fun at-home footwear. I used Lion Brand Chunky USA yarn, and am delighted at it's durability, and how well it holds shape. The one pair of slippers shown I used Lion Brand Fun Fur for the cuff for a "glam" look that not only looks great, but feels delightful on the ankles. (They look a lot better "in person" than in the Polaroid, I promise you!) The other pair pictured, trimmed in red, are "unisex" and would be festive for Christmas morning, and all year 'round! These slippers were knit on straight needles, yet appear to have no toe seam due to a method I found to facilitate such a look. They are easy to knit, but one does have to take care not to tangle one's threads as one knits (there are 3 lines of thread working for the red trimmed pair, and 5 for the Fun Fur pair.) The sky is the limit how one can combine different colors and yarns. These slippers make great gifts and craft show items! I've already knit a pair for my youngest son and a pair for my husband, and now my oldest son is wanting a pair too! I love the Lion Brand yarns, and have found them of excellent quality.
