Crochet squares with a rose-centered design, all done in a continuous crocheted pattern. A total of eight square motifs are joined together with a three-dimensional flower on each motif and, when joined together, has an opening at the top. The finished size is 8" X 8.5". The long strap is 48" long and is worn as a shoulder purse. It is sewn by hand and attached to the sides of the top opening. Due to the net-like design in crocheting, the taffeta lining provides a barrier to hold the contents of the purse. The purses come in different sizes and can be worn by teenagers and young children alike. A variation of the purse for young children displays one flower on each square motif in a continuous crochet pattern. I maintained the same three-dimensional effect and used a combination of yarns to create a sense of vibrance and cheer. The children's purses come with a crocheted headband accented with a flower to match the purse. The finished product is 5" X 5.5" and its strap is 30"
The children's purse is made for my grand daughter and the teenage purse is for my daughter. It is crocheted using Vanna's yarns. I copied the three dimensional rose motif from the old magazine Craft n' Things but I modified the rest of the pattern to my own specification to form a purse.I was challenged to try several times how to create a shoulder purse, figure out how to make the strap, how to attach it to the purse, and the overall look. I made several purses and I would love to do it over and over again. I will absolutely recommend it to my friends.
