I had originally intended to just make an ecru purse from the free Lion pattern at my local craft store. About 5 rows into the project I knew I'd be making another purse! I finished the project so I understood the construction, then I designed the next purse. I wanted a western-style one that I could wear with jeans. I adapted a Navajo afghan pattern, bought some more Lion Cotton, added novelty buttons, some leather lacing and got to work! The design is really not much harder than the original, but it helps if this isn't your first project. I used the leather lacing on either side of the handles to hold the purse more closed. My friends liked it and wanted to know where they could get one!
