Try This Stitch: Thistle Crochet

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

This simple crochet stitch is used as a block in the Try This Stitch Sampler Afghan. It is easy to memorize and works up quickly. It is a good alternative to single crochet if you’re looking to keep the stitch simple, but add a touch more visual interest.

As you work this stitch make sure you are not unintentionally adding stitches at the beginning or ends of the row. It is advisable to count every few rows. Also, take care to work the base chain rather loosely for this pattern.

  • First the directions say to chain an even number of stitches, then it says to chain 33 (an odd number) for the sampler afghan. Even number or odd number of chains to start?

    • Thank you for pointing this out! It should be an odd number to begin.

  • Thank you for bringing this to our attention! The “ch” in row 2 should be “sc”. The instructions have been updated to reflect this.
