Make Your Own Mr. Rogers Sweater!

Beloved children’s TV icon Mr. Rogers has never been far from our hearts, and now there’s a Lion Brand pattern to prove it! In addition to continuing to captivate young audiences for decades, there will be a new documentary about his life & work this summer, and Tom Hanks will play him in a biopic this fall. In case you didn’t know, Mr. Rogers’ mom knit all his sweaters for him. And one of his favorites was even donated to the Smithsonian! If you’re a long-time Mr. Rogers fan, check out our new pattern below, and knit your own friendly neighborhood sweater.

Mr. Rogers Neighborly Cardigan (Knit)

Our new Neighborly Cardigan (Knit) is an homage to our favorite neighbor. Whether you want to knit it for yourself or your favorite neighbor, the wearer is sure to appreciate the coziness of the Touch of Alpaca Bonus Bundles you’ll use to work it up.

Mr. Rogers

Neighborly Cardigan (Knit)

It’s a Level 2 – Easy (Beginner +) pattern, but looks much more impressive with the cables and neat ribbing at the waist!

Since it’s such a fitted look, you’ll want to be sure to inspect the sizing options & corresponding measurements in the pattern, before choosing your appropriate size & ordering accordingly.

You’ll Need:

  • Your Free Pattern PDF (free to download with your Lion Brand website log-in!)
  • 6 balls Touch of Alpaca (depending on the size you’ve selected)
  • Size 5 (3.75mm) Knitting Needles
  • Size 7 (4.5mm) Knitting Needles)
  • Cable Needles
  • Large-Eye Blunt Needles

To finish your sweater, you’ll also need:

  • 24in (61cm) Metal Separating Zipper
  • Sewing Needle & Thread
  • Straight Pins

Be Our Knit-Neighbor

We hope this new pattern will delight crafters with fond memories of Mr. Rogers, or maybe even inspire someone to try their first sweater! Nobody would be prouder than Mr. Rogers, who’s been encouraging us to do our best since 1963. And here at Lion Brand, we’re with you every step of the way, so be sure to let us know if you’re casting this on!
