80 Blankets: Winter Night Chevrons

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Welcome back to my #80Blankets for my wedding journey! If you missed the intro you can catch up HERE.

The little sparkly sequins on Winter Nights yarn are the perfect match for my December evening wedding. And since my colors are ice blue and pale gold, the Ivory and Light Blue in this yarn pairs up perfectly.

Winter Nights is a CYC4, and I don’t have time for projects that light, so I’m doubling all my worsted weight. I’m pairing it with the leftover skein of Ice Feels Like Butta Bonus Bundle® (FLB BB) I have from my Double The Butta blanket.

Rick (my fiance) says everyone will be trying to get at this blanket. I agree it’s probably about as perfect as you can get. I’m adding more Winter Nights and Feels Like Butta® Bonus Bundle® to my cart ASAP. I’m thinking maybe use a White base of FLB BB with the Bluetiful Winter Nights. Maybe the White FLB BB with the Chinchilly (grey) Winter Nights. Hmmm… The possibilities abound!

This type of project is at the top of my list. I love combining colors and textures with simple designs. I used to focus a lot on complex stitch patterns, and that’s still fine for a challenge sometimes, but especially right now the simple beauty of stress-free projects is exactly what I need. Get lost in the rhythm of the stitches.

Materials

I crocheted the blanket with a size 10mm hook, but I worked the original chain with a 11.5mm hook.

The Pattern

With Feels Like Butta® Bonus Bundle® and Winter Nights Blanc held together, chain 83

Foundation Row: skip 3 chain (ch), 1 dc in the next 4 ch, *skip 2 ch, 1 dc in the next 4 ch, ch 2, 1 dc in the next 4 ch; rep from * to the last 6 ch, skip 2 ch, 1 dc in the next 3 ch, 2 dc in the last ch, turn

Pattern Row: ch 3 (counts as 1st dc of row), 1 dc through the base of the ch-3, 1 dc in the next 3 sts, *skip 2 sts, 1 dc in the next 3 sts, [1 dc, ch 2, 1 dc] in the next ch-2 space, 1 dc in the next 3 sts; rep from * to last 6 sts, skip 2 sts, 1 dc in the next 3 sts, 2 dc in the last st, turn.

  • Continue working pattern row (above) following the color progression below.

Color Progression

  • 12 rows with FLB BB and Winter Nights Blanc held together
  • 6 rows with FLB BB and Winter Nights Bluetiful held together
  • 12 rows with FLB BB and Winter Nights Blanc held together

Finishing (optional)

To finish off my blanket I added fringe to each peak of the beginning and ending edge. I measured my fringe around a book for approx. 12″ strands. For each fringe group I held 4 strands of FLB BB, 4 strands Winter Nights Bluetiful, and 2 strands Winter Nights Blanc together. Fold in half and use a crochet hook to pull through fabric and knot in place. Once all fringe is attached trim for consistency.

Abbreviations
