Print Friendly, PDF & Email

You’ve bought bags of candy to hand out to the all the trick or treaters, the decorations are all hung up ready to scare, and you’ve even created a Halloween music playlist.

But what about the costumes for the kids?

Here are some costumes that can easily be put together with some hooks, needles, and of course, some yarn.

Max from Where the Wild Things Are

Sew some ears on a sweater (or glue them on barrettes or pins) and felt a knit crown (in Martha Stewart Crafts™ Roving Wool in Snowdrift),
your child is ready for their own wild rumpus!

Goldilocks and the Three Bears

Knit this easy sundress with three pockets (instead of two) for Papa Bear, Mama Bear, and Baby Bear which makes this costume just right. For brunettes, try this wig on for size.

Pea in a Pod

This Sweet Dreams Cocoon serves as a perfect pod for your very own sweet pea. They can wear it all season until they’ve grown out of it and are
ready to split.

Gnome

A cone hat, an oversized cardigan, and a white beard (or a sweater dress for girls) will have the other parents wondering if your lawn ornaments
came to life.

Prince or Princess

Dress your little royal in their Sunday Best and this crown in Vanna’s Glamour. Maybe this capelet for your little princess too?

Black Cat

Dress them in all black and knit some ears for a very last-minute costume. Hand them these trick or treat bags for an even more homemade touch.

  • I totally made the Max costume using Lion Brand yarns years ago! I used Lion Wool to make the felt crown in gold, and I used Jiffy in Fisherman to made the Weekend hoodie complete with ears! I should have passed by the LBYS to show everyone…

    • Aw! We’d have loved to see it! If you have photos, please feel free to post!
