This came as a surprise...
Year
of the Rat-Year of the Spool knitter

My husband really surprised me the other day.
We were talking about it being 'the year of the Rat'....
and how on earth does one celebrate Rat Year.
He said: 'You should knit me a rat!'
When my head stopped spinning ,
I went:
'erg!'
'Okay, then, could you crochet it?'
When I stopped laughing,
I got out my sketchbook, and....
my spool knitter!
I have unilateraly declared it to be Year of the Spool Knitter,
so since it is also Rattie's year,
and it's always year of the bookmark,
I designed and spool knitted my darlin'
a Rattie bookmark.
I NEVER thought I would be saying THAT!!!!!
You never know what a new day will bring, do you?

I did step by step instructions for the Rattie Bookmark,
and posted the whole kit and kaboodle to my other blog:

And, I truly hope that this is as close as I'll ever get to 'real' rats in my lifetime!

Noreen, just to say thanks for posting the info about Annette Petavy on the hankernforyarn site. I looked at some of her designs and fell in love with luscious collar. published in fall 2006 interweave crochet, found it on E-bay and done with the knitted half. thanks for bringing up sites I would otherwise not know about. Carolee
