Red Hat Spoolknitters, Spoolknitting Teeny Little Red Hats!

Red Hat Spoolknitters spoolknitting tiny red hats!
by Noreen Crone-Findlay (copyright)

A friend of mine asked me to make her  6  'Red Hat' spoolknitters.
She wants to share them
with her dear Red Hat buddies at their spring fling.
So, I made her 6  Red Hat Spoolies,

You can see them on my website
http://www.crone-findlay.com/ChubbyDollSpoolknittersOrderPage.html

I had so much fun making the spoolies, that I decided that I just HAD to
design a little Red Hat to make with the Red Hat Spoolies!
So, here it is in Lion Brand's Glitterspun in Ruby,
with a Lame hatband and bow.

You can wear it as a pin, or on a hair clip, or a zipper pull,
or on your suitcase,
or make 2 and wear them as earrings,
or you could even let your little doll or
teddy bear wear it!

I posted a tutorial on how to make these hats at my other blog:

I hope you'll have fun with them!
hugs all round,
be well, be happy, make the world a better place.....

Making small books, journals and scrapbooks with reused paper and spoolknitted bindings

April is Earthkeeping Month
by Noreen Crone-Findlay (c)

I love using recycled and reclaimed stuff to make new things.
For the last couple of weeks,
I have been using paper that has been used on one side
to make the pages for books, journals and scrapbooks.

The  books are held together with spoolknitted cords.
(although I have posted instructions on how to make books with  crocheted covers and cords)

And, because I never get tired of finding ways of representing the human form,
I have been spoolknitting, weaving and crocheting dolls for the covers.

Sock yarn is wonderful for spoolknitting on a fine scale, so I used Lion Brand's Magic Stripes in Springtime for the doll and binding on this book.

Again, Magic Stripes

BUT.....
larger scale yarns are wonderful for binding the books, too
I used 'Incredible' in 'Copper Penny'  for this one,
as it seemed so perfect for binding a book with a crocheted copper flat doll on it!

But, if you prefer to work on a smaller scale,
then, crochet cotton is good, too....

For full instructions on how to re use paper to create one of a kind books
and spoolknit the bindings, check out my instructions at my site:
http://www.hankeringforyarn.com/how-to-make-a-book-bind-it-with-spoolknitting/

The thing that is really important to me about these,
is that I designed them so that  you can just keep adding paper to them,
once you use the paper that is already in them.

Well, that, and the fact that
they are another expression of creative use of spoolknitting!
and that they are just plain fun!

I've been making a heap of the little journals,
as it is so satisfying and inspiring - AND portable!

Jim's Mum has been in hospital,
so we have been racing into the city every day to the hospital.

It's been a real sanity saver to have my spoolknitters with me,
spooling up a storm, so I could come home and make a new little book.

Thank goodness, Mum is on the mend.
And, my Mom is chugging along, too, even though she has challenges.

This year, Mother's Day is going to be even dearer than ever!

Speaking of which, perhaps, making a little book
that is a one of a kind expression  of love
is a great gift for Mother's day.

And, it's a good way to take good care of the planet, too.....

Mind how you go,
take good care,
be well!
hugs all round
