Knit Until Death
Hi guys!!
Dave and I just got back from a long weekend in Richmond, VA. We drove up for the Richmond Tattoo Convention, which was a lot of fun. Conventions are a blast - they're usually set up in a hotel ballroom, and the room is divided into 40+ booths for each shop or artist. The artists come to show off their work, but also to tattoo - its like having 40 mini tattoo studios in one room. Its open to the general public, and people come in to get tattooed or just to browse. Its also a great way for artists to network, and gives people a chance to get tattooed by specific artists from across the country (or the world - we had some artists in from Japan as this past show). A lot of times if you have one artists in mind that you would like a piece from, its easier to set up an appointment at a local convention than hop on a plane a fly across the country to go to that artist's shop. For example, I'm dying for a piece by Hannah Aitchison who is based out of Chicago, and she's going to be in town in two weeks for the Atlanta convention. Only problem is she's booked solid for the weekend, so I'm going to have to wait until next year. But it will be worth the wait.
Anywho - what does any of this have to do with knitting, you ask??
Dave was pretty busy this weekend, but I was able to slide in first thing Sunday before his other appointments got there. Originally, this design was an old sailor tattoo from the 40s by an artist named Sailor Jerry, and it had a heart with a dagger through it, and a banner across it saying, "True Until Death". I had Dave substitute the heart with a ball of yarn and the dagger with a knitting needle for this:
Its on my left leg, right above my ankle. And just for some added hilarity, here's a picture of me knitting while getting the knitting tattoo. I worked on Tracy's blanket the entire time Dave was working, and I have to say it was quite relaxing - kept me very well distracted from the 'ouch' factor.
I guess its too late to take up scrapbooking, isn't it??

If necessary, the scrapbooking tattoo can go on the other leg.

Mandy, Great Tat. Now to some old business, I just got a reply from Ms. Matela at Creative knitting. A nice note, stating they would be more sensitive the next time, but thought that since it was supposed to be for the beach, it was okay. At least they wrote. Mary (Marybunks) bunks@uniontel.net
