Yesterday was apparently KIP (knitting in public) day and I didn't find out until 2 minutes ago. Oh well. I did do a bit of public crocheting, but only a row or two.
Yesterday I went to The Wool Gathering (the knitting/crocheting/yarntastic club at Allegheny College) and we had a spinning demonstration. A local woman came and talked about all sorts of yarn-related topics and showed us how to spin. She teaches spinning classes and has a booth at the Meadville Market House, and I stopped by today to look at her yarns and the wool, spinning wheels, etc. After the demonstration, I examined the Homespun I'm using for an afghan and thought, "Ohhhhh, so that's how it's made! Coooooool!"
I've been warned that knitting leads to spinning. One of my aunts is severely addicted. I think I might learn to spin eventually, but probably not right away. I'm still a child in the knitting world (about 2 1/2 years into it... so perhaps just an ambitious toddler). Heck, I'm still a pipsqueak myself. I'm only 22. And almost three-quarters. I have decades upon decades to experiment with all sorts of creative outlets. 30 years from now, I'll probably own a small farm with several sheep. And a pony. But I don't know if pony hair makes very good yarn.
So! That's my excitement for the week. I'm only 2 1/2 and I'm already a yarnaholic.

Hi There,
I am new to all this Blog-jazz so I hope I do this right! Is there REALLY a knitting group at the college? Can non-college folk come? I am dying to meet knitters in the area (I live in Linesville). If I belonged to a group it would help me stay motivated to actually FINISH something!
Do you guys know about Knitters Fantasy? It is an all day knitters workshop in Youngstown. The new class sheet just came out - let me know if you are interested and i will send you a link for info.
Loved your kitty hats! Loved the photo of your kitty sleeping on the cat bed!
Hope to hear from you,
Julie
