What's New?  June, 2001
June is here and those lazy days of summer.  What better time to get caught up those unfinished projects?  Knitting and crochet are the ideal way to relax and this is the season to do it!

Recently the Lion Brand design team spent a morning with a group of high school kids at the Trevor Day School in New York City.

With the assistance of Editorial Director Nancy Thomas and Design Editor Adina Klein, the group learned to knit with the new Lion Brand Learn-To-Knit kit, which is available nationally at Michaels Stores, as well as through the Lion Brand mail order catalogue and Web site. The class began by making the hat pattern that is included in the kit.  It is so simple that good results can be achieved even by someone who has never before knit a stitch!

The next step in the kit is a sampler scarf that teaches additional basic stitches. The end result is a fashionable hat along with a matching scarf.  Students all came away with a sense of satisfaction and the tools to continue learning a skill that they can enjoy for the rest of their lives.

Teaching this in a classroom setting not only gave our staff a chance to see how well the Learn-to-Knit Kit aids in teaching, but also reminds us that it is fun to learn to knit or crochet.  Teach someone to knit or crochet today!

WHAT’S NEW ON THE WEBSITE
With the hot days of summer fast approaching (and, in some places, already here), this month’s patterns use comfortable, sport weight Microspun microfiber yarn:

The crochet pullover

NEW PATTERNS!

« The crochet pattern is a pullover with stripes, short sleeves and cool, breezy styling.
« The knit pattern is a tank top with an eyelet look created by deliberately dropping stitches!
