What's New?  February, 2001

Some people wait for the end of January for the Super Bowl, but for people in the hand knitting yarn industry, there’s something even more super: Lion Brand’s annual fashion show, emceed by celebrity crocheter Vanna White, at the Hobby Industries Association trade show (not open to the public). Watch here for more on the fashion show soon.

In the meantime, we’d like to introduce you to a special Lion Brand customer.

Meaghan Cosand, is a young lady whom some of us from Lion Brand met when she and her mother attended Stitches East in October. At 12 years old, Meaghan was one of the youngest knitters there, but she was also one of the most enthusiastic, and she and her knitting were featured in two of the attendees’ fashion shows. When asked how long she had been knitting, Meaghan replied, “Since I was little”, and she certainly has skills that some older knitters might envy.

We at Lion Brand were particularly delighted to see the cardigan that Meaghan wore in the last evening’s fashion show was one that she had adapted to use Lion Brand Homespun (Baroque) and Chenille Thick & Quick (Amethyst Print) for a wonderfully rich effect in both color and texture. We’ve included a photo of Meaghan in her jacket at the Lion Brand booth so you can feel as though you’ve met her, too

WHAT’S NEW ON THE WEBSITE

NEW PATTERNS!

« We’ve gotten a lot of requests lately for the crocheted Homespun throw pattern that was on our first Homespun label, so here it is for those of you who thought you lost it. Rows of double crochet alternate with rows of single crochet/loop stitch for a cuddly fringed effect.

Aran Cardigan

« For our knit pattern, we’ve chosen a traditional Aran cardigan sweater in Fishermen’s Wool with twists and cables to keep your fingers busy on these last long nights of winter.
